You need to consider not only the countertop, but also the backsplash in generally, any protective material behind the sink and counter. As with sinks, any number of materials were used at any given time, but there are historical patterns in the use of metals, wood, ceramics and stone, and laminates.
If the kitchen area is small you can use colours and shelves to make it seem larger and give the impression of more space. Install open shelving so that the kitchen doesn’t look busy or overwhelmed with too many things. Also use lighter colours since they make the kitchen space seem larger. If the L shaped kitchen is a large one, you can go with darker colours that make the kitchen seem warmer.
So today we are going to be talking about how to choose a kitchen countertop. This topic seriously gave me hives while we were doing our kitchen remodel. There are just so many options available and just tiny little samples to help you make your decision. Ugh. I spent hours upon hours researching different coutertop materials and ended up bringing countless samples home to “test out”. It was, by far, the hardest decision I made when it came to choosing what I wanted in the kitchen.
