Also being marketed for backsplashes today are pressed metal ceiling tiles. While there's no proof that they were once a popular backsplash option, it's easy to imagine a Victorian homeowner with a few of the decorative tiles left over applying them to the wall behind the kitchen counter. Monel and stainless steel sinks often had integral backsplashes.
Rather than using square subway tile, Katie applied Heath tile in classic white. It's similar to subway tile but has an interesting hexagonal shape, puzzled together with dark gray grouting (a practical color to conceal any future dirt or stains). Custom wood shelves were made locally to break up the upper cabinets and to emphasize the beauty of the tiles. The porcelain slab countertops are a gorgeous addition to this modern kitchen. Did I mention they're basically unbreakable?
The former ceramic tiles are such a boring option for flooring and ceilings. For an elegant and sober look in your kitchen, you will have to replace the traditional floors and ceilings with the trending options. You can choose Asian wooden flooring or ceiling, porcelain tiles, limestone flooring or ceiling, bamboo flooring, laminate flooring/ceiling etc. not only these materials add elegance in your kitchen but also these materials are highly stain resistant, durable and resistant to climatic changes.
