If you are designing a kitchen renovation with a mind to produce a less 'maintenance-intensive' kitchen area, then a 'steel' countertop should surely be in your programs. Again, this is one of the goals restaurants 'love' these countertops. In a full kitchen with lots of 'cooking' as well as working to be done, you do not want anything hindering you down.
The nonporous variety of stainless 'steel' countertops also makes them really simple to maintain. Since fluids do not go behind the surface, there is nothing 'risk' of staining. Anything that 'spills' on the countertop can be immediately 'dealt' with by a fast wipe. You do not even need any harsh 'detergents' or appropriate chemicals to keep your 'countertop' clean as well as shiny. Some soft detergent, vinegar or baking soda will do 'just' fine.
There is a purpose why steel 'countertops' are a decision among commercial establishments. They are tough beasts that can endure 'almost' anything. Unlike other 'countertop 'materials that are contaminated by heat, you do not have to depress about your hot pots as well as pans breaking your regular steel countertop. Oil, acid as well as wine spills are also nothing. Just clean 'them' off as nothing occurred.
