There is a purpose why steel 'countertops' are a decision among commercial establishments. They are tough beasts that can endure 'almost' anything. Unlike other 'countertop 'materials that are contaminated by heat, you do not have to depress about your hot pots as well as pans breaking your regular steel countertop. Oil, acid as well as wine spills are also nothing. Just clean 'them' off as nothing occurred.
If you 'own' heavy pots or appliances, your steel 'countertop' can hold them without denting or chipping as long as it has been placed properly. The flexibility of a stainless 'steel' countertop is particularly beneficial for 'busy' kitchens.
